Busy Busy Busy!!

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013
Life is very busy these days and I am enjoying being so busy with work and family and especially Ava. My days start early at the gym, I try to get out of the house by 5:45 to head to EBC and back home by 8 to spend a couple hours with Ava and Christine. I head out to PLS at 10 and do some work for a couple hours there followed by ticket work and home for play time and dinner with the family around 5:30. Lockdown and Phil's are both doing well and busy. We started construction last week on the spot next to Lockdown to open up a separate carryout/delivery location. We are very excited to get open and start serving Chicagoland sometime in January. Till next time TEst

Best FML Story Ever

Friday, December 6th, 2013
So now that a little time has passed, I need to share the ultimate FML story of all times. Since I am Jewish and hate the cold, I thought I could turn Hoober into a Jewish cold-hating dog. This means that instead of pooping two times a day, he would poop only once in the morning. Last Tuesday night (it was freezing) I made a big mistake and decided that Hoober didn't need his nightly poop because of my Jewishness. I woke up the next morning at 5:45am to head to the gym and low and behold Hoober took a huge dump in the kitchen, which has hardwood floors. Well in most realities, this is a good thing that he didn't poop on the carpet, in Ava's play area, or on the carpeted stairs. Only if the story could end here. Enter the Roomba Robot Vacuum. This vacuum is set to automatically clean the floor at 5:00 a.m.every morning. On a typical morning, the family walks down the stairs to a freshly vacuumed floor. Tuesday was not a typical morning. I walked downstairs to every inch of our 2nd floor covered in smeared Hoober shit. The Roomba did not miss an inch and dragged his poop for almost an hour before it parked itself back into its charger. FML. I was on my hands and knees for 2 hours scrubbing the floor, base boards, under the table, the legs of the chairs, and more. Did I already say that the Roomba made its way across every inch of our floor? I also ran to Home Depot to buy a new carpet and get the house perfect before Ava and my very, very type A, super clean wife woke up and made their way down.

What a year!!!

Sunday, August 11th, 2013
Well the last year has been beyond crazy and I can't believe I have not posted here in the last year. I will have to say that having a child is the single greatest thing I have ever done in my life. I will all is say that is hardest greatest thing ever. Christine and I could no be happier being parents to our little angel Ava and we are loving every minute with her. We never imagined our lives would change as much as they have but we are hoping to claim a little of it back as she gets a little older. Quick recap of the last year and I hope to post more regularly so I don't fall this far behind. Ava just turned a year and it has been great but also very hard on us, she is a very happy baby all day but she is not the best sleeper. Christine and I have become attachment parents and we did not even know what that is. You can catch up on the 1st year of Ava's love at Babyjacobs.com We have not done much traveling during the last year besides a quick trip to Salt Lake for Amy's graduation and Christine went to Louisiana to visit Danny before he was deployed to Afghanistan. Business is going well at Phil's Last Stand and Lockdown is doing great. I acquired Coast To Coast Tickets last November and things are going well with getting the SEO back on track. PJ and I have gotten back into the inventory game as of early July and we are both pretty excited to get back on top of ticket industry as well. I could write all night to try to catch up with the last year but lets leave it at this.... Since Ava was born, our lives have been a very busy sleepless blur. We are looking forward to getting back to our old selves as she gets a little older. Check back for more current updates here

Nothing Else Matters

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012
Well I am not a huge Metallica fan but I love the song Nothing Else Matters. I have to say that after today and becoming a father, Nothing Else Matters. I am so thrilled and happy to become a father and Christine and I are so super excited to welcome Ava May Jacobs to the world. Ava was born 7/24 at 6:26am after about 17 hours of Labor and she is such a cutie. I am going to cut this post short after 9 months of posting the count down. A new chapter has become and I am so excited. Watch for things going on here and don't forget to check out www.babyjacobs.com for pictures and info coming soon about Ava and things going on with BabyJacobs

Progress 87%-Days To Go 37

Monday, June 25th, 2012
I really can't believe that I am going to be a father in less than 6 weeks. Christine and I are doing great and the baby is a little gymnast all day and night and driving Christine nuts while trying to sleep. We have been really busy going to classed at NW and also packing getting ready to move June 30th. We have been plenty busy with dinners and movies and even snuck on a Cubs game and Vince Vaughn at Chicago Theater. Nothing really compares to the anticipation we are both feeling as the count down to the big day creeps closer. I am sure there are tons of things I could fill this post with but I just going to say Holy Moly we are going to parents very soon. We don't know the sex but I am pretty sure it is a girl and Christine is positive that we are having a boy. We both will be thrilled no matter what and we can't wait to get moved in our new place and get it all set up for the baby. Well that is it for now and get ready for much more baby news and info and pictures soon,

Mid May and almost 29 Weeks

Sunday, May 13th, 2012
Not a whole lot to report but we are almost 29 weeks and Christine is feeling pretty good and looking great. We have both been busy working and spending time together and getting ready for baby. We are moving July 1st to a much bigger place that will be better for us and the baby and having guest over. The last month has been pretty boring with not much to report. We enjoyed my old friend Swetal's wedding yesterday at the fairmont for a Indian formal ceremony followed by lunch and back for an incredible black tie formal reception in the evening. Lockdown is doing well and the patios are all out and open. Phil's Last Stand is busy and doing great and keeping me very busy. We are looking for another location and ready to expand. Everything is great and we will be updating more as things get busier.

Summer Came Early

Saturday, April 7th, 2012
They weather has been amazing the last month or more and it seems more like summer than early spring. The Stand has been extremely busy since we opened and we have gotten all kinds of amazing press. Great review in Chicago Serious Eats and then we were on 190 North and then Kevin our head Chef was featured on WGN grilling live at the studio before the Cubs Opener plus we are going to be on Chicago's Best Sunday April 8th. Business has been fun and I am learning a ton and I am looking forward to opening up more places in the next few years. Nothing super excited on the food front besides many dinners and brunches at my new favorite place Prasino in Wicker Park plus a dinner at Topolobampo and few regular spots. Betsy and the kids came in to visit for a few days and we did Dave and Busters and Rain Forest Cafe and hung around a bit. I also went to DC for a quick trip to join Christine ant her mom to do some sight seeing and hang out. I ran my 1st Half Marathon of the season April 1st and I actually did much better than I expected finishing at 2:03 Christine is 23 Weeks right now and the baby is kicking up a storm. We are playing music before bed and doing lots of talking to her/him and we are both very excited and also very nervous and looking forward to seeing what our little baby looks like. Well that is it to catch up for now, I will be working on a new website for the baby soon to share everything www.babycjacobs.com. Till Next time..

Baby On Board and Phil’s Last Stand

Sunday, February 26th, 2012
Well the amazing year just keeps on getting better and better. Christine and I found out we are pregnant and due August 1st and we are thrilled and can't wait to be parents. I am thinking about writing a book called from 39 and single to 40 married with a kid. Things have been great and busy since Phil's Last Stand opened February 2nd and I have been putting in a ton of hours and affecting Christine's sleep schedule but things have quickly settled down and business is great and we have a solid team keeping the place running through the night. Between all the craziness we have found some time for movies and a couple nice dinners and even spent the weekend with Amy when she came in to surprise Christine at Cirque. I have not had a ton of time to see friends but I have some great visitors to the stand from Ed, Julie and the boys to Scottie G and Gary, Lyssa and the boys. I am very excited for 2012 and all the great things going on and especially the baby coming. Christine and I have been enjoying everything since the wedding and the 1st 6 months of marriage have been wonderful. Well that is is for now and I will hopefully be updating more.
